to Publish Your Book?
Because
writing has become a game that many people play, the rules are changing
so fast that it's hard to keep up. Times
have changed, and so has publishing. Here are the services I offer to
authors of today:
Consulting
If getting published is your goal, arrange an consultation with me and
together we'll look at options. Perhaps you'll want to seek that illusive
agent and mainstream publisher. Maybe you'll look for a small specialty
press. You could use the Print On Demand options of the Internet. Or
you may decide to do it yourself (the printing and marketing) and pocket
the profits. There is no charge for the initial consultation.
Editing
Whichever way you decide, your manuscript will need a good edit. That
is my specialty. I have edited works for many authors who have published
in any number of ways. Editing includes copy editing, content analysis,
grammar and punctuation, and proofreading, with an over-all written
critique provided.
Formatting
If you decide to self-publish, I can format your book (put it into a
form acceptable by printing firms). Page design, font choice, and layout
are included in this service.
Book
Rights
Copyrights, ISBNs (International Standard Book Numbers) are handled
as part of the publishing service. You, the author, retain all rights
to the book and may publish under your own press logo.
Printing
Book printing is a special field now. Your best choice would be a printer
who specializes in book printing. I will be your Print Consultant and
help you find the best printer for your book through the bidding process.
Cover
Design
An author needs cover design. The book cover is the author's best sales
tool and requires expert attention. The author decides how to provide
this design.
Marketing
Whether the mainstream publisher prints your book or you do it yourself,
successful book marketing relies on the efforts of the author. I can
help you set up a marketing plan, but the details are up to you. Yes,
you can hire publicists or promoters, but nobody does it better than
the author - YOU!
Fees
All work is performed under contract, so that both you, the author,
and I understand what to expect. Fees are modest to low, compared to
the general market. Costs of editing and formatting are calculated by
number of pages and by total hours involved, with discounts for easy-to-edit
manuscripts. Print consultation fees are standard.
