Since I was nine years old, I've been a writer (scratching words on paper). My enjoyment of music kicked in about the same time. It took many years to realize that words without music sound tinny and hollow; music without words feel incomplete.

Words speak to the mind.

Music speaks to the soul.

But ahh, to combine the two - that's the fun!

The Joy of Challenge

February Challenge

One of the best ways to discover the answer to "Who am I?" (meaning you) is to write a story based on some incident in your life - in the form of a fairy tale. You heard me, a fairy tale. Start with the traditional "Once upon a time there lived a little girl/boy... and go from there.

• Give the child a name different than yours.
• Do not think about yourself.
• Turn off the editor in your head and just write!
• When you're finished, fold the paper - or hit SAVE - and forget about it.

Place the story in your daily calendar or your TO DO file and make a note to look at it in one month. You may be surprised!
