Grammar for Grownups QuizI believe there are only twelve people in the world who can say for sure when to add an "e" to make a plural of nouns that end with "o." And even they have to consult a dictionary on occasion. Then again - it depends on which dictionary they consult! What we're talking about are all those rules that somebody devised to make the lives of grammar school students miserable. Help has arrived! No longer do we have to consult dictionaries, pull hair, wrack brains, or implement cuss words when confronted with the question of making plural such words as hero, tomato, potato, piano, crescendo, cargo, torpedo, etc. New Rule: Just add "s." Here's a simple quiz. Make plural the italicized words in the following sentences: 1) How many potato make up a pound? 2) Please pass the potato. 3)I grew plenty of potato in my garden this year. 4) Baked potato are my favorite food. 5) Always add sour cream to your potato.
