Grammar for Grownups Quiz #45About Verbs... Verbs drive sentences which drive words which drive ideas. You can see how important they are. It's not a sentence without them! In this exercise, take the sentences and transform the verbs from first-person-past-tense into third-person-present-tense. If you find that enjoyable, fool around with other tenses. Have fun! Check my answers, which may not be as good as yours. (Clue: it helps to give the character a name in third person.) 1. When I was a kid, I wanted to ride bicycles all day. 2. My mother insisted that I take piano lessons and do homework. 3. By the time I was a teenager, I discovered boys, and I kept secret diaries. 4. I grew up to become a writer and learned to use those diaries as writing ideas. 5. My memory came flooding back vividly as I used the ideas to tell stories. Click here for my answer. |
