Grammar for Grownups QuizWELL, WELL, WELL "Well" is an adverb, an adjective, an idiom, and a conundrum. Too often, "well" becomes confused with "good". Below you'll find some easy choices for the first two (or three), and then you'll face the dreaded conundrum! Good luck. Select the best "well": 1. I treat my pets (good/well). 2. It would be (good/well) not to ask how I get by. 3. Last night I slept (good/well). 4. This morning I don't feel very (good/well). 5. Do you realize how (wellfed/well-fed/well fed) I am? 6. I like my steak (welldone/well-done/well done). 7. I tell the chef, "Your job was (welldone/well-done/well done)." 8. The chef tells me, "Your gratitude shows you are (wellbred/well-bred/well bred)." 9. I counter with, "That's because I was (wellborn/well-born/well born)." 10.
