Ruth Reichl, talking about her book on the "Tacoma Reads" program:

Tuesday Afternoon Writing Salon, Eight
weeks of hands-on preparation for printing your novel. For first-timers
or professionals with book-length manuscripts ready (or nearly ready)
for publication. The first four weeks include fine-tuning the manuscript
(polish characters, pump up dialog, consider plots and themes); the
next four weeks include getting published (prepare a query letter, proposal,
seek agents/publishers, prepare for marketing). Mandolin Café, 3923
